The temple, dedicated to Lord Hanuman, is believed to be over 500 years old and captivates devotees and travelers alike with its sacred energy, tranquility, and breathtaking surroundings.

A divine intervention is believed to be the origin of the Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple. The story narrates how a humble cowherd named Singam Sanjeevudu, while desperately searching through the hills for his lost buffalo, was exhausted and fell asleep under a tree, and Lord Anjaneya Swamy appeared in his dreams, revealing the location of his missing buffalo. Sanjeevudu woke up with a heart filled with a mix of awe and hope, and he followed the diet's instructions. And as he searched for his buffalo again, to his astonishment, he found not only his buffalo but also an idol of Lord Anjaneya Swamy. He experienced a profound sense of peace and a connection to the divine. Sanjeevudu was determined to honor this miraculous event and built a small temple for the idol. This act of faith marked the beginning of the legacy of Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple.

Following the legend, The idol of Lord Hanuman is belived to be a Swayambhoo, meaning it emerged naturally. This miraculous occurrence is documented on the silasasana—a sacred stone formation visible on the external wall of the main temple. This occurance has long been a source of wonder and reverence, drawing devotees seeking blessings and solace.
